Herrick Theatre Celebrates Its 40th Anniversary

Opened in 1975, The Ray Herrick Center for Speech and Theatre was "one of the reasons I was happy to come here," says professor emeritus Royal Ward. "The whole building was pretty state of the art," and having a main theatre and a black box "was fairly new back then." The venerable place still has plenty of life left in it and celebrates its 40th anniversary with its first production of the season, Shakespeare in Hollywood (left), running Thursday through Sunday, October 1-4.

In Lysistrata, Theatre Presents New Skirmish in Battle of Sexes


The classic comedy Lysistrata gets a brand-new treatment in an Albion College Theatre Department production, rearranged by professor Bob Starko. The play runs Thursday, April 9 through Saturday, April 11 at 8 p.m. in the College's Herrick Theatre. A Sunday, April 12 matinee begins at 2 p.m.

Theatre Production to Compete in Kennedy Center Regional

Albion College Theatre received its first-ever invitation to compete for a spot in the national Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival (KCACTF). Albion's production of Sean Michael Welch's Thread of the Warp will have three performances at the 2015 Region III KCACTF competition, January 8-10 at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.

Theatre Class 'Cooks Up' Bicultural Thanksgiving

 A treat for the eyes—if not for the tongue—shows the creative talents of students in Amber Cook's Theatrical Prop and Costume Craft class. Their Thanksgiving Banquet installation, created from a class assignment, is on display through the end of the semester in front of Herrick Theatre.
